The impact that Vans Warped Tour has had on music culture is undeniable. For almost a quarter century it has toured across the country, highlighting most cities’ summer concert lineups every step of the way. As most of us know by now, Warped Tour 2018 will be the last time the festival embarks on its ambitious cross-country journey, prompting a whirlwind of emotions from those who grew up benefiting from its impact. The decision to make this year the final run of the festival is surely one that will impact us all for years to come.

Alaska’s Salmonfest, now in its eighth year, is a shining blossom to the wonderfully charismatic Alaskan music scene.  This August 3rd-5th the salmon run will be on as roughly 9,000 people of strange and exotic ilk make their pilgrimage to the tiny hamlet of Ninilchik, deep in the heart of the Kenai Peninsula.  Boasting sixty-five bands and four stages, Salmonfest, nestled in the pristine environment amidst Cook Inlet and the Ninilchik River, is where musicians from around the globe gather in the name of fish, love, and music.

It’s hard to figure out what's good when so much new material is coming at you. For the cerebral prestige partying crew, there is no room in the summer to simply spend money on bands that don’t matter.  With Pitchfork Music Festival right around the corner, let’s have some fun. Let’s play three truths and a lie. Can you guess which of these four fun facts are NOT true?

Two-person bands can make a lot of noise.  Examples include Twenty One Pilots, the Black Keys, Black Pistol Fire, and Matt and Kim.  And the Japandroids, a Canadian two-man band who are one of the headliners of the Pitchfork Music Festiva on Sunday, July 22nd at 7:45 p.m.

Sonic Bloom of Summer 2018 has successfully put on another festival with a little bit for everyone. Going into Sonic Bloom as a pretty hardcore jam band fan, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I knew a lot of the artists but just hadn’t experienced an electronic music festival like it before. I was blown away to find myself embracing another musical culture all over again and let me tell you why.

It was a spectacular early summer day in Southern California as day 2 of the Arroyo Seco Weekend unfolded on June 24th. Temperatures in the low 80’s and soft breezes created a perfect environment for the giant picnic attended by 25,000 concertgoers. Many music fans arrived early to lounge about the sprawling meadow encompassing the three musical stages.
